Pinky Swear Announces its Next Season, Comprised of Two World Premieres from Local Playwrights Highlighting Women’s Voices

What:

Pinky Swear Productions is proud to announce that its 20172018 season will feature two brand-new works by DC playwrights and Pinky Swear company members, Natalie Piegari and Brittany Alyse Willis. Piegari’s Safe as Houses will debut this fall, while Willis’ Use All Available Doors will open in the spring/summer of 2018. Both productions will be world premieres.

Pinky Swear has been developing both pieces internally for nearly two years, and an excerpt from each was presented at the Kennedy Center’s Page-to-Stage Festival in 2016.

“We feel that Safe as Houses and Use All Available Doors are really unique and vital pieces of theatre and are proud that they have come from local playwrights who are members of our company and that they so perfectly align with our mission of showcasing complex women characters,” says Karen Lange, Pinky Swear’s Artistic Director. “We’ve long believed in these pieces, and we’re thrilled to be able to share them with the community.”

A violent storm is more than the harbinger of rain in Piegari’s Safe as Houses. In the play, an ordinary suburban family struggles to survive both a supernatural and natural disaster. Willis’ Use All Available Doors follows a soon-to-be-decommissioned WMATA train car, a grieving operator re-evaluating her life’s path, and a revolving door of passengers as they travel the length of the Red Line, with vignettes performed between each stop.

Exact dates and venues haven’t yet been announced, but keep an eye on Pinky Swear Productions’ newly revamped website (http://pinkyswear-productions.com/) for updates.
